- The Pulsed Light Alternative
Acne is the most common skin problem in the United States, affecting not only teenagers, but up to 80 percent of people in their 20s and 30s*. This stubborn conditon is typically treated with oral and topical medications, which can produce good results but often with undesirable side effects.
We offer an effective alternative acne treatment. Our systems deliver highly concentrated light pulses which attack acne on two fronts:
- Destroys acne bacteria for a quick clearance of current acne breakouts.
- Penetrates into the hyperactive sebaceous glands to slow down the production of sebum, which can clog pores and cause future acne breakouts.
The result is fast resolution of current breakouts and a long remission time between treatments, without any drug-related side effects.

FAQs
Q: How does the pulsed light work?
A: We use specialized handpieces which filter light from different parts of the spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength that is ideal for different treatments, such as hair reduction, sunspot removal, or leg vein clearance. The handpiece filters light in the ideal band of the spectrum to affect acne. It concentrates the light into individual pulses which target acne-causing bacteria.
Q: How is pulsed light different from a laser?
A: Pulsed light systems and lasers are very similar, but our pulsed light systems use a much larger treatment window than most lasers. This spreads light over a wide area of skin and allows faster coverage of the skin and quicker treatments as a result.
Q: What are the treatments like?
A: Your treatment provider will move the handpiece over your skin, pulsing it all the while. Each pulse will send a beam of light through the skin. A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the handpiece is being pulsed. This sensation produces little to no discomfort.
Q: What should I expect after treatment?
A: You can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with gel or ice packs. There may be an initial flare-up of acne, similar to the kind seen after a peel procedure or the beginning of a new topical or oral acne medication. Some of the blemishes may appear redder. They will then fade after 2-3 weeks. A reduction in the number of lesions and the prevention of new lesions formation can be expected following your treatment course.
