Acne can come from many
sources, most common is an
inflammatory skin disorder
associated with nodular skin
lesions with scars) and
irregularities on the face
during the later stages (did
you know we can get rid of
Scars too; but lets get the
acne under control first).
It is a difficult problem
affecting millions of
teenagers and adults. The
exact cause is unknown
although factors such as
dietary habits, hormonal
changes especially during
puberty, certain drugs,
stress, nutritional
deficiencies etc. have been
implicated in the etiology.
Sometimes acne occurs for
the first time later in life
(30—40 years). The
infections in acne are as a
result of Propionobacterium
acnes along with
Staphylocccous aureus. There
are different methods of
management of acne. Several
prescription and over the
counter products provide
varying degrees of clearance
of the lesions. The goal of
the treatment is aimed at
reducing the level of
bacterial population in the
lesion providing a healthy
environment for healing.
We have used the Palomar,
Syneron, LightSheer & Lyra
Laser in acute cases and
there is significant
reduction of the level of
inflammation in the lesions.
This along with a
proprietary topical product
that works by reducing the
level of the bacteria has
provided clearance of acute
acne in a good number of
patients. Multiple
treatments with the laser
may be necessary as well as
maintenance treatments
depending upon individual
needs. Dieting and other
factors also need to be
addressed along with
treatments.
For scar management
including pigmentary charges
different lasers can be used
as well along with a
prescription cream. In some
patients depressed scars can
be corrected by subcision,
injection of filler
materials, collagen
remodeling etc.
Chemical Gel Peel Treatment
The Gel Peel Treatment is designed
to minimize the appearance of surface lines, smooth
out rough skin texture, aid in clearing acne, and
help fade hyperpigmentation. The acids in these
peels remove dead cells from the surface without
irritating the skin. Safe and effective this
in-office treatment minimizes patient down-time and
is specifically developed for use with an at-home
pre and- post treatment regime. For optimal results,
a minimum of 6 sessions in conjunction with other
procedures or treatments are recommended.
Calming Facial
This Facial is designed to help calm
and sooth acne/ rosacea skin. The Vitamin C Firming
Masque will aid in reducing erythema caused by
rosacea. The Phyto Corrective Gel acts as a
hydrator, without leaving the skin oily, and its’
anti- bacterial/ anti-septic properties help heal
and calm acneic skin.
Deep Pore-Cleansing Facial
This facial is perfect for the
teenaged client experiencing “teen-like” acne. The
combination of products helps to reduce oil without
drying and gives the skin the hydration it needs.
Botanicals in the Phyto Corrective Gel help to heal
the acne, while the Clarifying Clay Masque draws out
impurities and oils that can be harmful to the skin.
The
Pulsed Light Alternative
Acne is the most common skin problem
in the United States, affecting not only teenagers,
but up to 80 percent of people in their 20s and
30s*. This stubborn condition is typically treated
with oral and topical medications, which can produce
good results but often with undesirable side
effects.
We offer an effective alternative
acne treatment. Our systems deliver highly
concentrated light pulses which attack acne on two
fronts:
Destroys acne bacteria for a quick clearance
of current acne breakouts.
Penetrates into the hyperactive
sebaceous glands to slow down the production of
sebum, which can clog pores and cause future
acne breakouts.
The result is fast resolution of
current breakouts and a long remission time between
treatments, without any drug-related side effects.

F.A.Q.'s
Q: How does
the pulsed light work? How is pulsed light different
from a laser?
A: We use specialized handpieces
which filter light from different parts of the
spectrum. Each band of the spectrum has a wavelength
that is ideal for different treatments, such as hair
reduction, sunspot removal, or leg vein clearance.
The handpiece filters light into a band of the
spectrum to affect acne. It concentrates the light
into individual pulses targeting acne-causing
bacteria. Pulsed light systems and lasers are very
similar, but our pulsed light systems use a much
larger treatment window than most lasers. This
spreads light over a wide area of skin and allows
faster coverage of the skin and quicker treatments
as a result.

much larger treatment window than most lasers. This

Q: What are
the treatments like? What should I expect after
treatment?
A: Your treatment provider will move
the handpiece over the skin, pulsing it all the
while. Each pulse will sends beams of light through
the skin. A flashing light, an audible tone and a
mild sensation will tell you when the handpiece is
being pulsed. This sensation produces little to no
discomfort. You can expect a mild sunburn-like
sensation, possibly accompanied by minor swelling.
This usually lasts 2-24 hours and can be soothed.
There may be an initial flare-up of acne, similar to
the kind seen after a peel or the beginning of a new
topical or oral acne medication. Some of the
blemishes may appear redder. They will then fade
after 2-3 weeks. A reduction in the number of
lesions and the prevention of new lesions formation
can be expected following your treatment course.
Help for
Common Skin Problems
According to a 2008
survey by the American Society for
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, people in
their 50s and 60s ranked
youthful-looking skin as the number
one feature they find attractive in
others. Also, respondents in their
20s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, consider the
appearance of the face essential.
Millions of women
have stretch marks, which occur
naturally as a result of puberty,
pregnancy, hormonal changes and
weight gain. This fact does little
to alleviate the embarrassment that
most women experience at the
appearance of these unsightly
striations on their skin.
Acne scars and
surgical scars may cause emotional
or physical pain and influence the
quality of life. Surgical scar
removal procedures are painful,
invasive, and have a chance for
complications.
At Body Beautiful,
we use the Palomar’s Lux1540
Fractional Laser System. Palomar®
invented and patented
micro-fractional laser technology.
We offer a non-invasive solution
that delivers rapid, reliable
treatment with little risk. Healing
time is minimal; the infection risk
eliminated; and there is little to
no pain felt. This laser technology
is the perfect choice for the
treatment of wrinkles, acne and
surgical scars, melasma, striae,
undesirable textural irregularities,
crow’s feet, blotchy skin and more,
on almost any problem spot on the
body - face, neck, chest, arms,
legs.
The laser improves
unsightly skin color and skin
texture associated with stretch
marks and wrinkles around the mouth
and eyes (known as crow’s feet).
This laser eliminates these
conditions, leaving smoother, better
looking skin. It is suitable for use
on all skin types, making it the
preferred method of scar removal for
outstanding clinical outcomes.

WHAT CAUSES ACNE?
Acne occurs
when the pores become
clogged with dead skin cells
and excess sebum. This
provides an ideal medium for
bacteria to multiply –
causing pimples and
inflammation.
Acne
generally begins in puberty
but can last well into
adulthood.
PULSED LIGHT: HOW DOES IT
WORK?
Pulses of
filtered light are directed
into the skin, where they
destroy bacteria to clear
current acne breakouts.
The light pulses also slow
down the production of
sebum, which can get clogged
in the pores – this prevents
future acne
breakouts.
Pulsed light
systems are similiar to
lasers but with a larger
light beam than most lasers
for wider coverage and
faster, more comfortable
treatments.
PULSED LIGHT ACNE TREATMENTS
The Palomar
Pulsed Light System attacks
acne on two fronts:
It
attacks bacteria to
clear current acne
breakouts.
It
decreases the production
of sebum, which clogs
pores and traps
bacteria, leading to
future acne breakouts.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Happens After
Acne Treatment?
Your skin
may be slightly red after
treatment. The acne
blemishes shrink and become
less noticeable, and then
fade after approximately one
week.
Will the Treatments
Hurt?
Palomar
Pulsed Light Systems use a
unique long pulsewidth that
delivers energy to the skin
over a relatively long
period of time. This makes
the pulses safer and more
comfortable. You may
experience a feeling similar
to that of a rubber band
being snapped on the skin,
but most people do not
report this sensation as
painful.
Are There Any Adverse
Reactions to Treatment?
You may
experience temporary redness
and a mild “sunburn”- like
effect that may last a few
hours to a few days.
